  • Update 4/2/2008 I just logged on to revamp our www.polycom.biz ad on Google Adwords and discovered that they had disabled the ad (demanding higher bids). I deleted my ad and will go advertise Polycom on business.com and yahoo.
  • This is my email to antitrust.complaints@usdoj.gov Can nothing be done about Google extorting their customers through their adwords program? They have cost us a season of log splitter sales by disabling our keywords to advertise our website http://www.splitlogs.com. They demand that we increase our bids to as much as $1.00 for our keywords or they won't show the keywords. It is because of their monopoly that they can do this. Regards, Steve Winter CEO SELLCOM

  • I was just greeted by this: "Warning 30 keyword(s) are currently inactive for search. These keywords are marked in the Status column of the Keywords tab below. Improve their quality through optimization, delete them, or raise the keywords' bids to the minimum bids indicated. (Raising the bids to at least the minimum will activate the keywords.)" In some cases the greedy low lifes wanted $1.00 per click to activate the keywords. It has NOTHING to do with relevance and EVERYTHING to do with Google GREED and the Google MONOPLY! I have heard their garbage line to justify their greed but if were in any way related to relevance then a higher bid would NOT fix it. Google is using its monoply to extort and abuse its customers! • I understand the necessity of advertising with Google, but there is something very wrong with that. A couple of options that come to mind are ask.com, yahoo.com, and business.com It would be great to see Google lose the market share that it so richly deserves to lose.
  • May I also add that one should beware of Google and their policy of disabling advertising with no notice to the client (until you log on, visit your ad, and they demand a higher bid to "activate" your keyword. I won't republish all the details in this comment but here is the link if anyone cares. http://www.work.com/google-keywords-advertising-has-proven-unreliable-for-us-2692/ We lost a lot of business because Google disabled a lot of our keywords without notice. • This appears to be a valuable service that you are offering. We use off site backup but that wouldn't help much for something like a birth certificate or something like that.
  • I believe that people need to be aware of the dangers of depending on Google for advertising. Yes they have a lot of convenience but they also will disable your advertising without any notice to you and then demand that you pay a higher rate per click. We have spent many thousands of dollars with Google and it means nothing to them. http://www.work.com/google-keywords-advertising-has-proven-unreliable-for-us-2692/ I apologize that my URL is not converting on this comment. Please just paste it if you want to read more. Steve Winter CEO sellcom.com
  • I am seeing the Google monopoly as a dangerous thing because of what they have been doing to us. I already have the details in one of my guides so I won't try to repost it here, but here is the link to my guide. http://www.work.com/google-keywords-advertising-has-proven-unreliable-for-us-2692/ Steve Winter CEO sellcom.com
  • Today I logged on to our ad for the Lingo language translators and the following message greeted me there. "Warning 8 keyword(s) are currently inactive for search. These keywords are marked in the Status column of the Keywords tab below. Improve their quality through optimization, delete them, or raise the keywords' bids to the minimum bids indicated. (Raising the bids to at least the minimum will activate the keywords.) " In most cases the greedy monopoly wanted $1 per click to even activate the key words. There is something very wrong and something needs to be done about Google and their effective monopoly. Steve Winter CEO SELLCOM
  • Today I logged on my Google Adwords and checked one of my ads. The following message displayed: "Warning 3 keyword(s) are currently inactive for search. These keywords are marked in the Status column of the Keywords tab below. Improve their quality through optimization, delete them, or raise the keywords' bids to the minimum bids indicated. (Raising the bids to at least the minimum will activate the keywords.)" What this means is that part of my advertising was not running. As I checked, I had bid "29 cents" but Google was demanding "30 cents" a click and holding the keyword hostage. What I am going to do is just delete those keywords from Google and move them to a more professional advertiser like Yahoo. Steve Winter CEO SELLCOM
  • It is a warning about Google for those who might be advertising there. It is a sick feeling to find that your advertising had been disabled due to their greed without notice.
  • Overture has become yahoo and they have upgraded their interface and seem to be doing a good job. People who choose Google adwords should beware as they will disable some if not all of your keyword advertising without notice and extort higher bids from you to activate them. Here is a link to a guide about that. http://www.work.com/google-keywords-advertising-has-proven-unreliable-for-us-2692/ Steve
  • Google is attempting to expand their monopoly by purchasing Doubleclick. You can make a difference! You can file a complaint against the Google monopoly. Go to http://www.usdoj.gov/atr/contact/newcase.htm#file Just follow the simple instructions and you can do your part to make the world a better place. Regards, Steve
  • Well, but isn't business.com affiliated with work.com? Good advice though. You might want to check out my guide regarding Google making keywords inactive without notice to their customers and then demanding higher bids to re-enable them. http://www.work.com/google-keywords-advertising-has-proven-unreliable-for-us-2692/ Steve
  • There is also the ET4300 but the EV4500 has a much richer feature set. The question whether VOIP is ready for prime time is something everyone will need to ask for themselves. We are again looking for a company we can recommend.
  • The software to to AVS is a feature of the credit card processing software. Often it is a matter of simply calling the issuing bank (and you generally have to get that number from your merchant services.
