Scott, just for your information, regarding podcast listening, about 80 percent podcast listeners either listen to the podcast on the computer or get deleted without ever transferred into the portable media devices.
So, no. You are not atypical. There are indeed people who prefer reading to listening, and vice versa. Even if timeshifting will be the future trend, still we could be sure there are people who can't see the benefits.
I, for example, couldn't think of a reason why listening to a podcast while exercising at the gym is fun.
