Take a look at Spotrunner. As their site says, “you can select from thousands of high-quality, made-for-primetime ads; personalize the ad to reflect the specifics of your business; and create a television schedule to run your ad in your advertising area.” A great concept!

Colleges in your area would love to supply interns for your business, and they're very unlikely to charge for postings. Contact and develop relationships with Career Centers (they don't call them Placement Offices anymore) at nearby schools. They will help you find students interested in your field.

One tip about searching resume databases online: search broadly, then scan the results to find what you're looking for. In other words, don't try to use the full power of the search engine by creating very complex queries with lots of keywords and boxes checked. When you do so, you'll find far fewer qualified candidates, because not every candidate will describe himself the same way. It's better to keep the search generic (e.g. marketing people in Los Angeles) and scan resumes to find the candidates who suit your needs.

Paul, you make a good point about withholding your email address in online forums. You'll invite a lot of spam if you openly publish your email address online. It's important to note, however, that sites like work.com won't publish your email address when you post.

Don't forget that a visitor to your Website is a great prospect. You want to be able to invite them back via email with product news, specials or other promotional information. Create a reason for them to leave an email, such as a white paper for download, and build a mailing list. Use a mailing list package such as Listserv, and be sure to follow all the rules about sending emails to your customers.

Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best. I've found that two products, GoToMeeting and GoToMyPC are huge benefits to communicating clearly between offices, or to customers. Each of these services allows you to 'share' what you're looking at on your computer screen with one (GoToMyPC) or many (GoToMeeting) others remotely. It's easy to use and gets everyone on the same page - literally.

Regarding data backup and recovery, I recommend My Book Premium Edition from Western Digital. It's an external backup hard drive that comes in sizes up to 500GB. It comes bundled with software that makes it a snap to schedule automated nightly backups. And in the event of a hard drive crash, the software makes it easy to restore your backed-up data to a new hard drive. That's peace of mind!
