These are real people we are assessing, not numbers and letters with a name attached. - Paul Heller
I totally agree with Paul, I never was a believer of these assessments as I was brought up in an indian family where nobody even knows about such assessments , its all what parents say. My parents wished I be an Engineer and my sister a doctor and we both agreed to it and worked towards it. Today when I take the MBTI Career Report, it's amazing to see that Engineering is the least selected career of an ENFP. I can feel it, as I love to be in sales and marketing. I love to sell and has been doing it whenever I get a chnace, I sold pita chips, I sold books while I was working as an engineer. I have a passion towards sales even before I knew about MBTI. When I took the career report, it was like my mirror image.
Human's personality cannot be measured by numbers, as it is the most complex system to understand. If an assessment would exactly describe a person then this world would be free from all kinds of conflicts.
MBTI is an ongoing research, it is an indicator not a test, I see lots of benefits in using MBTI if we can use it in a right way and direct our growth using this information as a guidence to our own personality to help others and ourselfs.

To answer Donna Fenn's question:
Just wondering what you think of using personality tests as part of the hiring process. I have mixed feelings, but I know lots of CEOs who swear by them.
According to MBTI Ethics and guidelines MBTI should not be used for hiring process or to evaluate performance of any employee. MBTI is a personality inticator not a test which will give us any results. This can help us to understand ourself and others to build strong relationships and take advantage of our own personality.
But, I have seen some people misuse the TYPE data and make wrong decisions.
I believe, MBTI is not a tool which should be used for any hiring process, as all TYPE's good types, none prove to only work in certain areas.
Take my example, I am an ENFP and I am a programmer for the last 8 years, If you look close programmers have to have T and J but I am successful because I know to use my N and P to make things work.
Believe me, I am good at what I do at my work.
