My Comments

  • Topher - thanks for the great tips and resources. Employee retention is definitely one of the big challenges businesses face. I like to think that the process starts even before the orientation, with effective promotion for the open positions. A business can really benefit and save time by attracting the right type of applicants before the interviewing begins. I look forward to reading more of your guides!
  • Thanks Topher and Anita for your feedback and additional tips! I think that too often employers overlook or undervalue the importance of praising employees... it really does make a world of difference in overall morale and productivity!
  • I knew Facebook had potential for promoting a business, but really wasn't sure HOW. Thanks for the great tips and resources.
  • Thanks Kimberly for a very informative read. I just set up a squidoo lens last week, so this article comes at the perfect time for me!
  • That step sounds a little like a part of Saint Francis de Assisi's Peace Prayer. Can't be bad advice!
  • Before I read this article, I'd never heard of an "elevator pitch". After reading it, I realize it is absolutely essential! We were recently a part of a large conference and were confronted with the challenge to do just what your article suggests, but were unprepared. While we explained in detail what it is we do, I don't know if we actually reached anyone! Thanks for the great advice - this is truly important for business.
  • Wow... what a great wealth of information you have here! I've saved this to my favorites for reference in the future. Thanks.
  • This article is a great starting point, and Donna, I think your point (below) is essential. That is how you'll have the highest chance of getting quality employees.
  • Wow, thanks for all of this great information. There is so much to know about the online world! I will come back to this article often to use as a resource!
  • I'm fairly new to the blogging world, but have really learned the truth that's conveyed in this guide: blogging is essential to your business advertising efforts (especially an online business). Any suggestions on writing a successful guide here on work.com? One that others will see? I just wrote my first guide yesterday, but no one has viewed it yet? Thanks for the tips!
  • A cheap and easy site to use is ClassifiedFlyerAds.com. You create a flyer or advertisement once, and it is automatically posted to tons of online directories. Cheapest on the web and lots of included "extras" like virtual tours, widgets, and tracking reports.
