About Me:
Junction Networks has been in business since the beginning of 2004. We currently support over 5,000 customers on two platforms - http://www.onsip.com for hosted pbx / virtual pbx and http://pstn.junctionnetworks.com for sip and iax trunking. The company is managed by Internet veterans who previously built one of the largest Internet Service Providers in New York City, Interport Communications, before being purchased by RCN in the late 1990's. We are back at it again, delivering a high quality service at an extremely competitive price.

  • it has been a while since I wrote this post. Our hosted platform has taken off like gangbusters. It now has it's own brand and website - http://www.onsip.com
  • Why SIP? The overwhelming adoption of SIP as a standard for VoIP is itself, the reason why you should not consider other VoIP protocols. Phones, service providers and application vendors alike are migrating to SIP in mass. As a consumer of VoIP, SMBs can be sure the phones they buy, for instance, will be compatible with the most providers if they stick with SIP based ones. I don't think you will find any phone providers pushing H323. My advise for migrating from traditional PSTN to VoIP: The appetite for new technology differs from company to company. The great thing about VoIP is you can try services at your own pace with very little effort. The inherent flexibility of VoIP allows users to get service set up very quickly and with little commitment. Junction Networks' Hosted PBX customers that find the most success do the following: - Sign up for a free 30 day trial of Hosted PBX (5 minutes) - Configure a simple test pbx environment (10 minutes) - Get some free software phones from counterpath or buy some inexpensive polycom IP phones - Try some calls - extension to extension - Buy a phone number and make some calls in and out ( you can spend as little as $10 -once the decision is made to stick with the service, customers can then port numbers over to Junction Networks for a small fee. Challenges: - Is your network capable of handling the calls? - check with your IT professional - Some providers don't allow trials - Don't use them
