My Comments

• I think twitter is a verb -- it follows the "Wisdom of the Language" principle (see http://gaggle.info/miscellaneous/articles/wisdom-of-the-language :) nmw
• Thanks for your comment, Eric. I'm sorry that I don't seem to have clearly stated my point. This article is about "online communities" and how they need to share a common focus (sometimes these are referred to as "communities of interest"). The simplest way for this common interest to be communicated is via the domain name -- so according to the example I used above ("work.com") the domain name ("work") indicates that this site has to do with work. The "TLD" (top level directory) name also has come significance -- in this case, "COM" implies that there is something "commercial" about the site. I hope this helps. :) nmw
• Good article! What matters most: 1. keywords that people search for (e.g. "work", "business" ;) 2. the jurisdiction of the TLD (.COM, .DE, etc.) 3. the economic significance of the TLD country (e.g. US, Germany, Japan, China, India, etc.) 4. the language of the TLD country (or, for "generic" and/or "repurposed" TLDs: the language(s) of the global community) Some examples of repurposed TLDs include "TV", "TM", "CA" or "IT" (there are probably many more)
