About Me:
About Me: I work on a team at Zillow that deals with Industry Relations. I specifically work within the Real Estate community to make sure they have correct and current information about all of the resources available to promote their business on Zillow.com. About Zillow: We have created 70+ million Web pages - one for most every home in America. These pages include Zestimates, satellite and overhead photos, valuation information, and details about the home's sale history. In addition, listing agents and homeowners can further contribute to these pages by uploading their own pictures, planting virtual ‘for sale' signs in their virtual front yards, posting their ‘Make Me Move' price, adding in home improvement information and writing what they love about their home, all for free! If you would like additional exposure for yourself or your listings, check out our EZ Ad product where you can target your advertising by zip code for as little as a penny each time the ad is viewed. Zillow is a media site. This means revenue is generated by selling advertising around site content. We do not charge to post listings to the site, nor do we sell leads or get involved in the transaction.

My Comments

  • Anita- We let owners "write" to their house and create their own estimates that will appear alongside our Zestimate. For example, if you did a kitchen upgrade, you could tell us about it to create a value.
  • Paul- With regard to competition, there are sites that compete with pieces of Zillow, but none that package all the information together like Zillow does. For home valuation information you can visit cyberhomes.com, realestateabc.com, or reply.com. For information about what is for sale by realtors, you can visit trulia.com, realtor.com, or remax.com. If you want for-sale-by-owner information, visit forsalebyowner.com, craigslist.org, or oodle.com. Bringing all this, plus a lot more by allowing the community to post and comment on the site, is a strong asset of Zillow and the reason that we are a top-trafficed real estate website. I recently posted a similar piece on a real estate community website.
